SPANISH FORK — The city is seeking to ensure that fences and accessory structures — including sheds, garages and carports — are constructed in a manner that conforms to the city’s zoning ordinance and state regulations.
Spanish Fork provides building permits, free of charge, for accessory structures that are less than 200 square feet and fences. Typically, these permits can be issued the same day that an application is submitted, but the city suggests that residents apply a week before they plan to start construction.
Applications can be made for building permits online at spanishfork.org by clicking on the CitizenServe logo and following the provided instructions.
The city requires that accessory structures be at least 5 feet from other structures. Certain types of fences are not permitted within a specified distance from intersections and driveways.
By obtaining a building permit before beginning construction, residents can be assured that the structures and fences they build meet the city’s requirements. For additional information, contact the Building Department at 801-804-4540.
