SALT LAKE CITY — A Democratic, Latino politician will speak at a fireside this weekend sponsored by the Democratic Party.

Nevada state Senate Majority Leader Moises Denis will share his perspective as a Latino, LDS progressive in the Nevada Legislature during the talk on Saturday, Aug. 10, 5-7 p.m. at the Royal Garden Inn Convention Center, 154 W. 600 South.

Denis will talk about the importance of civic involvement and how Latinos can make a difference in electing officials who will work for issues affecting their communities. He will also address ways that the LDS and Latino communities can invigorate and inspire Democrats across Utah.

The event is free and open to the public. More information can be found at moisesdenis.eventbrite.com.

Denis was born in New York City to parents who were immigrants from Cuba. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Uruguay and studied at BYU. He has also served as a bishop in the LDS Church as well as in other positions.
