Benita Margaret Barber Glavas"Bennie"Murray, Utah Our beautiful, loving wife and mother passed away surrounded by family on August 4, 2013. She was born October 1, 1920 in Gebo, Wyoming to Margaret Susan Hall and Benjamin Barber. She married Chris Glavas October 18, 1944 and they were sweethearts for over 68 years. Together they raised 3 children.Mom graduated from Granite High School in 1938 and attended LDS Business College.Worked as a Bookkeeper at the Salt Lake Auto Auction for over 34 years, a member of the Murray City Firemen's Auxiliary, Treasurer of the State Firemen's Auxiliary, and a member of the LDS church, South Cottonwood 8th ward, Relief Society Visiting Teacher for many years.Mom fell in love with golf at age 47, and was a member of the Glennmoor Ladies League. She was competitive, loved playing "21" and was always looking for a friendly wager. She was a gardening enthusiast with a green thumbher yard had blooms of many varieties, especially petunias. She loved music and slow dancing with her sweetheart.Mom is survived by husband, Chris; children, Christene (Dennis) Grabel, Nancy Clark and Rich (MaryAnn) Glavas; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.A special thanks to all the caring and wonderful people at Alta Ridge Alzheimer's facility and Millcreek Hospice. In lieu of flowers contribute to Utah Alz.org/utahFuneral services will be Monday, August 12, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, with viewings for family and friends Sunday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. and Monday 12-12:45 p.m. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
