Dr. Lael J. Woodbury July 1927 ~ Sept. 2013Dr. Lael J. Woodbury was born July 3, 1927 in Logan, Utah to Raymond and Wanda Woodbury. He married Laurabelle Young in 1944, she later passed away. He married Margaret Lillian Swenson in 1949 in the Logan Utah Temple.He served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific. Lael received his BS from USU, his Master's from BYU and his PhD from University of Illinois. He was formerly the Chairman of Utah Arts and Education, formerly Director of the Utah Valley Red Cross and Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication at BYU from 1973 until 1982.He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, including Stake President of the BYU 2nd Stake, a mission to the New York South Mission with his wife Margaret, and 27 years as a sealer in the Provo Temple. Lael also voiced the word-for-word narration of the Book of Mormon, D&C, Pearl of Great Price and the New Testament. He was a published author, talented actor and director, and a servant of God. He was also a Husband/Dad/Grandfather and this was his greatest role.Lael passed away September 24, 2013 in Orem, Utah with his wife and son by his side. Lael was preceded in death by his first wife, Laurabelle Young and his children Carolyn Hancock, Shannon Busenbark and Lexon Woodbury. Lael is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret, his son Jordan (Debbe) Woodbury, 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Oak Hills 7th Ward Chapel, 1038 North 1200 East, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Monday from 6-8:00pm and at the church Tuesday from 9:30-10:45am prior to services.
