Lucille Romney1932 ~ 2014Santa Clara, UTOur beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted wife Lola "Lucille" Green Romney, 81, slipped peacefully into eternity on January 10, 2014 with her family by her side. She was born on November 8, 1932 to Charles Wesley Green and Lola Leavitt in Idaho Falls, Idaho. When Lucille was nine, her family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated in 1950 from North High School, then decided to further her education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. While visiting the BYU bookstore Lucille met the love of her life, an All American basketball player, Jerry Elwood Romney. They were married in Phoenix, Arizona on May 2, 1952, and resided in the Olympus Cove area in Salt Lake City, Utah together as they raised their seven children.Lucille thoroughly enjoyed everything about the outdoors including playing tennis, hiking, and exploring. Her family frequently took vacations to Lake Powell on their yacht. Later in their marriage, Lucille and Jerry continued to bask in the beautiful outdoors while taking jeep rides on the Southern Utah trails, and staying at campsites all over the state in their motor home. After relocating to Southern Utah as snowbirds, they eventually retired permanently to Santa Clara, Utah in 2009.Lucille prioritized making her home a comfortable retreat for all who entered. She had a very warm smile and genuine, gentle nature that would set others at ease immediately. She was an amazing cook, a gifted seamstress, and a beautiful model with natural poise and elegance. She was a devoted wife, a proficient homemaker, and revered by all her children as a loving, selfless Mother. Her patience and love radiated through her countenance reflecting the love of her Savior as a devoted LDS Church member. Lucille was loyal to everyone she knew, and loved by all who knew her! Lucille is survived by her beloved husband Jerry Romney and their children: Jeffrey Romney (Melinda), Jill Ence (Greg), Jan Romney (Stephanie), Jackie Peterson (Don), and Jennifer Sorensen (Severin). She also leaves behind her brothers: Robert, Ronald, Boyd, and Wesley "Golden" Green; 30 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lola Green; her older sister, Zara Faye; and her sons: Charles Elwood Romney and Jerry Elwood Romney Junior.Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 3040 West Santa Clara Drive, Santa Clara, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Saturday at the Chapel from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., prior to services.
