Before he began his Hall of Fame coaching career with the Utah Jazz, Jerry Sloan was a two-time All-Star performer for the Chicago Bulls. He spent 10 of his 11 NBA seasons as a player in Chicago, averaging 14.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game with the Bulls. The tough, tenacious guard earned NBA All-Defensive Team honors a total of six times.
The franchise retired Sloan's No. 4 jersey, the first jersey retired by the Bulls, and after serving as a scout and assistant coach for Chicago, he was the Bulls' head coach for two-plus seasons, going 94-121 before getting fired in 1982. He then came to Utah as a team scout from 1983-84, and the rest, as they say, is history:
