Coaches are largely a nervous (i.e., paranoid) bunch and Utah’s Kyle Whittingham is no exception.

So far this year he has banned assistant coaches from talking to media (with occasional exceptions), the reporting of injuries, listing of players who miss practice, and the naming of which unit a player practices.

He hopes to avoid giving opponents a competitive advantage.

In fairness, other Pac-12 coaches are imposing similar rules.

So just in case anyone’s wondering, there won’t be any firm news on whether Kendal Thompson is starting against Oregon State or the status of Tevin Carter.

However, an unnamed source in the Pentagon confirms they will indeed be wearing something reddish in their upcoming game against Oregon State.
