ST. GEORGE — One man died and another was injured in a car crash Saturday after a Corvette they were driving went airborne and crashed into a guard rail south of St. George.
The 32-year-old driver was heading west on state Route 7 at a high speed when at about 4:10 p.m., the white Corvette crossed the threshold of River Road and went airborne, according to police. The car's front end collided with a guard rail on the right, where became lodged as it slid about 200 feet, police said.
The driver was killed in the crash, and a 27-year-old passenger was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.
Both men appeared to be wearing their seat belts.
The driver's name was not released Saturday evening pending notification of family members.
