The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released its Christmas video, “He is the Gift,” Tuesday. The video encourages church members to remember the true meaning of Christmas and share it with others using the hashtag #ShareTheGift.

According to a statement by Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in the December 2014 issue of the Ensign, “ ‘He is the Gift’ focuses on God’s love for the world, made manifest in the first gift of Christmas, even the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Elder Nelson encouraged readers to not only reflect on the gift of the Savior this Christmas but to also discover, embrace and share the gift.

In the same Ensign article, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles also issued an invitation to members of the church to fill the same role the angels filled by sharing the good news of Christ's birth with those around them.

LDS Church members can respond to this invitation by visiting a website the church created that contains the "He is the Gift" video as well as suggestions for how visitors can share the true meaning of Christmas on social media.

With phrases overlayed on video clips that are set to music, "He is the Gift" is very similar in style to the “Because of Him” video that the LDS Church released prior to Easter.
