SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah Court of Appeals Judge Carolyn B. McHugh was appointed to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals Monday.

McHugh was nominated to the position on the Denver-based appeals court by President Barack Obama in May and again in January. Her nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate last week.

Monday, fellow 10th Circuit Court Judge Scott M. Matheson, Jr. administered the oath of office to McHugh in Salt Lake City, where McHugh will have her primary chambers.

McHugh graduated from the University of Utah's College of Law and served as the editor of the Utah Law Review during her time there. After her graduation, she became a clerk for U.S. District Judge Bruce Jenkins.
