MORGAN — The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of a fire over the weekend that destroyed a large ATV maintenance building at Morgan Valley Polaris.

No one was injured in the weekend blaze that fire crews from Morgan, Mountain Green and Weber County fought for several hours Saturday at 800 E. 100 South. Although several people were in the building when the fire broke out about 5 p.m., all escaped unharmed and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters were still on the scene six hours later, extinguishing hot spots. The steel building buckled and collapsed on one end from the heat of the blaze.

A massive column of black smoke could be seen from the other end of the valley where I-84 emerges from Weber Canyon. The Polaris Wilkinson construction shop is a large steel building housing a storage area as well as a workshop and ATV repair facility.

Preliminary reports suggested the fire likely erupted in the boiler room of the warehouse.
