Thomas Ray Nunley 1936 - 2014Also known as Sr., Big Tom, Tomass, Andrew and self-proclaimed "Angel from Moroni", left this earth at the young age of 77. Born May 5, 1936 to Alfred Lee and Artie J. Nielsen Nunley. Married his sweetheart, Florence Weeks, on October 8, 1956. They raised 6 fabulous children.Tom loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved his family above all. Anyone who knew Tom will never forget how he would liven up a room with his loud voice, sometimes a few inappropriate jokes and the stories he would tell. He loved the outdoors and would spend many hours putting and puttering around in the yard. He lived for every chance he got to be on the golf course or in the mountains hunting and fishing. He had many stories of "the big ones that got away". Tom and Florence were members of the Alpine Country Club for over 30 years and acquired many great friendships there.Tom owned and operated 2 successful businesses during his life. Tom Nunley's Trucks and a sheep shearing crew for many years which required a lot of hard work and dedication.He is survived by his beautiful wife Florence, daughters Debra (Calvin) Peel, Diane (Cary) Nelson, Lisa (Gary) Sorensen, Brenda (Tyler) Page, sons Tom Jr. (Connie) and, Kent (Jenny Halligan), 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, siblings Mary (Eldred) Stephensen, Reed (Evelyn) Nunley and Myrtis Stephensen. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Christy Kay, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.Services will be held at 11:15am on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South in Sandy. A visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8pm and on Monday morning from 10 -11am prior to the graveside services.
