MAESER, Uintah County — A Vernal man was killed Saturday after police say he lost control of his all-terrain vehicle Saturday night.
Uintah County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the accident at 2000 North and 3000 West at 9:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found Alan Heiner, 37, dead at the scene.
Heiner was riding his four-wheeler north on 3000 West when he lost control on a turn at 2000 North. The ATV went off the right side of the road, where it hit multiple road signs and rolled at least once.
Deputies said Heiner was thrown from the ATV as it rolled. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
