The Piano Guys transform Salt Lake City into Gotham as the group takes on the music of Batman in its latest music video, “Batman Evolution,” released Sept. 25.

According to The Piano Guys website, the intention of the video was to take viewers on “a ride through time.” Covering three eras of the superhero’s history, the video begins with the 1960s TV show, transitions to the 1989 Batman movie and concludes with a tribute to the popular Dark Knight trilogy.

The set for each scene showcases an era-appropriate wardrobe, different instruments and, of course, the Batmobile, which gets more technologically advanced as the video goes on. The video also includes a scene shot outside the Utah State Capitol building.

Jon Schmidt, Steven Sharp Nelson and Al van der Beek cover three pieces that have accompanied the Batman saga: “Batman Theme” by Neal Hefti, “The Batman Theme” by Danny Elfman, and “Like a Dog Chasing Cars” by Hans Zimmer. The music is woven with visuals of Batman's history.

“This is one of those projects we’ve wanted to do from the very beginning of The Piano Guys," the group posted on its website. "We love super heroes, the dramatic music that has brought them to life, and the vivid films that have made them legends.”

The group posted two teaser videos in the last month, but the release of the video itself coincides with the premiere of Fox's new TV drama, “Gotham.” This year also marks the 75th anniversary of Batman’s creation.
