In today’s Clean Cut, YouTube sensation Kid President, 10-year-old Robby Novak, teaches viewers “20 things we should say more often.” While some of the items on the list come as no surprise, such as “Please” and “Excuse me,” others are a bit more original, like, “I’ve got barbecue sauce on my shirt too.”
Kid President is the brainchild of Robby and his brother-in-law, Brad Montague, who says that the videos were inspired by “Robby’s resilient spirit.” Robby was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic disorder that causes bones that break easily.
“What’s inspiring about Robby isn’t his condition,” Montague wrote on the Kid President website. “But the fact that his condition doesn’t define who he is. In spite of all he’s been through, he not only keeps going — he dances.”
The videos were originally just for fun, but when Rainn Wilson, best known for his performance as Dwight on NBC's “The Office,” saw their videos, he began to post them on his YouTube channel and website, SoulPancake. Since then, Robby and Brad’s videos have gone viral, with one video getting more than 33 million views. Robby has been interviewed on TEDTalks and was featured on the “Today Show."
“It’s all about a dream,” Montague says in their behind the scenes true story video on YouTube. “We just want to help spread hope and joy. That’s all we’re trying to do.”
This video, which was released in 2013, has over 6.7 million views on YouTube.
