LDS comedian and former employee of "The Daily Show" Jenna Kim Jones released a YouTube video Sept. 3 describing the pros and cons of hiring her as Tom Bergeron's replacement as the host of "America's Funniest Home Videos."
After Bergeron announced his retirement earlier this year, many of Jones' fans took to Twitter to campaign for Jones to be the next host.
Using the hashtag #JKJ4AFV, word got around and hundreds joined in, including Jones.
"We had joked about the hashtag #JKJ4AFV, but I had no idea my fans would be so excited about the idea as well," Jones told the Deseret News.
The social media campaign was successful enough for "America's Funniest Homes Videos" to reach out to Jones and request a video audition.
Now Jones has released an audition video in hopes that this social media buzz might land her a new job.
"I was pretty excited when 'AFV' started following me in Twitter," Jones said.
"Of course, the only reason any of this happened at all was because of Twitter. Not sure what will happen from here, but 'AFV' has seen the audition. All we know is that Tom is retiring, and they need someone to replace him next year! Why not me?"
The video includes cameos from celebrities including TV host Larry King and "Jeopardy!" contestant Ken Jennings.
Hosting "America's Funniest Home Videos" would be a dream come true from Jones.
"I love 'AFV'! Who doesn't?" Jones said.
"I've always loved the idea of hosting a show and have watched 'AFV' for years. It's one of my husband's favorite shows. I think it's a perfect fit!"
Jones released a comedy special, "#SorryNotSorry," in June, and she recently announced she is the narrator of the feature-length film "Meet the Mormons," produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
