Former Utes forward Danny Vranes to be inducted into Pac-12 Hall of Honor

Former University of Utah forward Danny Vranes will be inducted into the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Hall of Honor on March 14.

The school announced Wednesday that Vranes will join the hall of honor with 11 other former men's basketball players in a ceremony prior to the championship game at this year's Pac-12 tournament at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Vranes was a four-time all-WAC honoree at Utah from 1977-81 and was named a second-team all-American as a senior. The Salt Lake City native, who prepped at Skyline High, helped the Utes reach the NCAA tournament three times and the Sweet 16 twice. His number (No. 23) is retired by the Utes, and he was named to the Utah All-Century Team.

Following college, Vranes was selected fifth overall by the Seattle Supersonics in the 1981 NBA draft. He played seven seasons in the NBA.

Others who will be inducted with Vranes include Fred Snowden (Arizona), Ron Riley (Arizona State), Sean Lampley (California), Jim Davis (Colorado), Anthony Taylor (Oregon), Jim Jarvis (Oregon State), Casey Jacobsen (Stanford), Dave Meyers (UCLA), Alex Hannum (USC), Jon Brockman (Washington) and Bennie Seltzer (Washington State).
