BRIGHAM CITY — A Box Elder County Jail inmate died at a Brigham City hospital after he was found hanging in the shower area of his cell late Sunday afternoon.
The man was identified as Christopher Witt, 42, of Layton, according to the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office.
Upon discovering Witt, deputies performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. Witt was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the sheriff's office, jail officers saw Witt 13 minutes before he was discovered hanging in his cell.

Witt was arrested Friday by Utah Highway Patrol troopers and booked into jail for investigation of drug possession, paraphernalia possession and failure to appear in 2nd District Court.
