A YouTube video from BYUtv's sketch comedy group "Studio C" is a contender in The Hunger Games Tribute, a competition sponsored by Samsung.
The "Studio C" video, "The Hunger Games Musical: Mockingjay Parody - Peeta's Song," published in October 2014, received more than 2 million views on YouTube and is competing in the fan-made music video category. According to "Studio C" producer Jared Shores, the cast and crew were unaware that the video was selected for the competition.
"The exposure was a fun surprise to all of us," Shores wrote in an email interview. "It was just picked up, which is always cool to see. That means our content is getting out there."
At the time of publication, the "Studio C" parody had more votes than the four other videos in the fan-made music video category. Voting is open through Oct. 19.
"We are all grateful for moments like this, but we are even more grateful for our consistent fans who continually support us," Shores said. "We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them."
According to the rules of the competition, one grand prizewinner will receive a trip to The Hunger Games Tribute Global Fan Appreciation Event at the Samsung Studio in Los Angeles.
