Chris Burkard, an LDS photographer from central California, was recently featured on the HuffPost Religion Instagram account, where he shared not only captivating images but also his testimony of a loving Heavenly Father.
"I have had some powerful spiritual confirmations that God created these amazing places so that we could cherish and enjoy them," Burkard wrote below an Instagram picture of Iceland. "When faced with harsh but breathtaking conditions, I have a lot of conversations with the Lord to help sustain me and support me to accomplish my task, to be safe and to be present."
Over the course of a day, Burkard, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose photography often focuses on surfing and oceans, took over the Huffpostrelig Instagram account and posted photos of breathtaking coasts from Kiribati to Iceland.
He shared spiritual insights below the photos he posted. For example, along with a photo of surfers preparing to enter icy waters in Norway, he wrote of his feelings about adverse conditions in life.
“I’m drawn to these challenging places to endure these conditions because I believe that those experiences refine you,” Burkard wrote. “The Lord doesn’t want us to choose the easy way in life. He wants us to challenge ourselves, and through those challenges we grow and evolve. We become the best versions of ourselves.”
