"BE AUDACIOUS: Inspiring Your Legacy and Living a Life That Matters," by Michael W. Leach, WestWinds Press, $18.99, 280 pages (nf)

Michael W. Leach writes on his website that his mission is to "inspire people to pursue their passion, live a life that matters and change the world." In his recent book, "Be Audacious: Inspiring Your Legacy and Living a Life That Matters," Leach shares his personal philosophy and examples from his life to demonstrate how to achieve the "Be Audacious" lifestyle.

In the "Be Audacious" campaign, he emphasizes fulfilling potential, channelling passion towards a vision, and leaving one's comfort zone. Especially dear to Leach's heart is speaking for the voiceless and treating others with respect. Leach hopes that "Be Audacious" will give individuals the tools to find, chase and realize meaningful passions and lead purposeful lives.

Leach has been a National Park Service ranger, fly fishing guide, high school basketball coach, wilderness advocate, motivational speaker and a writer. His passion for the outdoors, basketball, growth and character illuminate "Be Audacious."

It's easy to root for him during his low points, cheer for his success, ponder ways in which his principles of character, heart, swagger and resiliency could add meaning to their lives. Throughout the book, Leach offers practical suggestions and exercises to help readers apply his principles.

Leach clearly has a soft spot for Utah. His parents attended the University of Utah, and the book describes his journey to Park City for a surgery.

"Be Audacious" contains some profanity about every three pages, but no sexual content or described violence.
