In an August 2014 talk, Elder David A. Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, counseled LDS Church members to use social media to share "messages that are authentic, edifying and praiseworthy — and literally to sweep the earth as with a flood."
Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have joined the online conversation in recent years and are leading the church's charge to "share goodness" by posting uplifting messages and photos to social media.

Members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles updated their cover photos on Facebook and header photos on Twitter to reflect these changes.
President Thomas S. Monson, president of the LDS Church, tweeted Oct. 14 and Oct. 15. He reminded readers to love one another, and he testified of the Savior.
President Monson also wrote about the purpose of this life in a Facebook post on Oct. 14.
