The difference between a musician and a large pizza is that a large pizza can feed a family of four.
This saying began to ring true for The Piano Guys in 2011 as they pursued their ambitious dream to sell pianos through social media, according to a video the group posted Saturday.
In the video, The Piano Guys perform a cover of “A Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover.
What started as a creative way to sell pianos turned into a passion for pianist Jon Schmidt and cellist Steven Sharp Nelson. Both musicians and the group's other members loved making music, but they were struggling to create videos while maintaining their day jobs and providing for their families.
With the help of the Founders program, a crowdfunded support group, music became a full-time career for The Piano Guys, according to the YouTube video's description and their website. Names of their supporters can be seen on Nelson's cello and Schmidt's piano in the new music video.
"They saved us," Nelson said in the video. "They actually created this opportunity for us to do this full time. We've built this entire Piano Guys adventure upon their shoulders."
The Piano Guys create music videos "to make a positive impact in the lives of people all over the world," according to their YouTube channel.
Their YouTube channel has garnered more than 730 million views since they joined YouTube in 2008.
