The Provo High Wrestling Hall of Fame will induct three members into its 2015 class. The inductees will be Dick Hill, Trent Beesley and Mark Baird.
Hill was a long-time football coach and athletic director at Provo High and a state wrestling official for 22 years. Hill also officiated at the college level for several years. Hill has been inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame as both a coach, athletic director and wrestling official.
Beesley graduated in 1998 and was a three-time state placer, two-time state finalist and state champion his senior season. Beesley was also a two-time team captain and has the highest winning percentage of any Provo High wrestler with only eight losses in his three years as a varsity wrestler.
Baird graduated in 1976. This is a posthumous honor as Baird died in a car accident at age 19. He was a state champion and team captain for the Bulldogs, helping lead Provo to a third-place state team finish. He was also a member of the football team coached by Hill and Baird was named as the outstanding male athlete for Provo High his senior year.
The banquet will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Provo High. Tickets can be purchased on line through the school's website at phs.provo.edu or in person at the school business office. Tickets are $25 per plate and must be purchased prior to Tuesday, Nov. 17.
