AMERICAN FORK — A fire tore through the garage of an American Fork home and caused $50,000 in damage Thursday, fire officials said.

A woman was home with her children at 330 S. 400 West when she saw smoke coming from a wall adjacent to the garage, said American Fork Fire Battalion Chief Doug Bateman. She opened the door to her garage to find it engulfed in flames, then evacuated her children and called 911, Bateman said.

Firefighters arrived at the home around 8:30 a.m and quickly put out the blaze.

The homeowners reportedly lost a lot of personal items that were in the garage while they worked to repair a water leak. Bateman said investigators were still determining the cause of the fire.

No one was injured in the blaze.
