The New Orleans Pelicans waived former BYU basketball star Jimmer Fredette, the team announced Thursday afternoon.
The Pelicans signed Fredette on Nov. 10 under a hardship roster exception. The team was allowed to sign more than the 15-player roster limit because several players were out with injuries. Once one of those players returned the roster had to be cut back down to 15, according to a report from The Times-Picayune.
Fredette suited up for six games, playing 13 minutes in four games. He scored just two points to go with one assist and one steal.
Prior to the 2015 season, Fredette was drafted by Westchester Knicks with the second pick in the NBADL draft. The team still owns his rights.
The 2-0 Knicks' next game is Friday at home against the Souix Falls Skyforce.
