WEST VALLEY CITY — West Valley police have arrested three men who they believe were collectively responsible for a series of bank robberies in their city.
David Matthew Hamson, 36, Moroni Fuli, 23, and Jared Freeland, 25, were each arrested for their alleged roles in four bank robberies:
• Oct. 23 and Nov. 6 — U.S. Bank inside Smith's, 5620 W. 4100 South
• Nov. 11 — U.S. Bank inside Smith’s, 4065 S. Redwood Road
• Nov. 18 — U.S. Bank inside Wal-Mart, 3180 S. 5600 West
Hamson is believed to be responsible for three of the bank robberies, said West Valley Police Sgt. Steve Burke. In each of his bank robberies, Burke said Hamson would present a note to the teller that was "very polite."
The other two men are suspected of being involved in one or two of the bank robberies, possibly as getaway drivers. Burke said all three men are acquaintances.
After the robbery at U.S. Bank on Wednesday, a Salt Lake City bank was robbed.
"Shortly after the second robbery, West Valley City police located a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle used in connection with both the Salt Lake City robbery and the robbery of the bank inside the Wal-Mart store," said West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku.
Fuli and Freeland were found inside the vehicle and were arrested.
On Thursday, police and agents from the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force developed information that Hamson was at the In-Town Suites, 48 W. 3300 South, where he was arrested.
