SALT LAKE CITY — Enough of the more than 10,000 people employed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints like their work that the church landed 22nd in rankings of the best U.S. employers created by jobs and recruiting website Glassdoor.
The LDS Church, with headquarters in Salt Lake City, was the only religious organization on Glassdoor's list of the top 50 large "best places to work," released Wednesday as part of its 2016 Employees' Choice Awards.
Vivint Solar, also based in Utah, is 27th.
Glassdoor's methodology is like the Princeton Review's system that for 18 straight years has used student reviews to find BYU the nation's top stone-cold sober school — the ratings are based on anonymous reviews submitted by employees since November 2014.
LDS Church employees gave a 99 percent approval rating to their "CEO," church President Thomas S. Monson. They rated church employment high on work/life balance (4.4 out of 5) and culture and values (4.4) but lower for compensation and benefits (3.9) and career opportunities (3.3).
The church's overall rating was 4.3, placing it just behind Adobe, Memorial Sloan Kettering and Delta Air Lines. Airbnb ranked No. 1 with a 4.6 rating.
Vivint Solar's overall mark was 4.0, putting it between Twitter and Paycom. CEO Greg Butterfield earned a 93 percent approval rating.
