The 126-pound wrestler posted a 10-0 record with 10 falls.
“Braxton is a great leader for the North Sevier wrestling team. His goals are to win an individual state title and lead his team to a state championship. He is a leader on and off the mat as is shown by his 3.85 GPA,” said North Sevier coach Barry Smith.
Maxwell won the state championship at 113 pounds last year.

Meghan Rainier, East (Sr.)
Continues to have a great season for East.
Last week at a meet against Highland, Box Elder and Rowland Hall — all while feeling sick — she lowered her 4A-best time in the 200 free to 1:57.86 and also won the 100 fly.
She owns the best time in 4A this season in the 200 free, 500 free and 100 fly.
“Meghan is a senior and a captain on our team. She is a very positive personality, and is a very well-respected leader of our team,” said East coach Cathy Philpot.

Boys Basketball
Frank Jackson, Lone Peak (Sr.)
This senior guard as having a scintillating start to the 2015-2016 season.
The Duke commit leads the entire state with a 32.8 scoring average through five games. Last week in wins over Wasatch Academy, Fremont (California) and Miller Grove (Georgia) at the FreeTaxUSA.com Shootout at Orem High School, he scored 29, 21 and 38 points respectively.
He’s also averaging 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists for the undefeated Knights.
Girls Basketball
Kaitlin Toluono, Taylorsville (Sr.)
Kaitlin Toluono exhibits a fierceness on the Noah Court that comes from winning a battle off the court against cancer.
“You can really see the ‘survivor’ mentality when she plays basketball,” said Taylorsville coach Jodi Lee. “At one point while fighting that disease, she was told she may never walk again. She fights for every loose ball, every rebound and gives extra effort every possession of the game. Kaitlin is a natural leader that her teammates look to for guidance. She is an amazing example of perseverance.”
Through the Warriors first five games, the two-sport senior forward is averaging 17 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists.
“She is one of the most passionate players I have ever coached,” Lee said. “Kaitlin always finds a way to score whether it’s off of offensive rebounds, getting to the free throw line (or) draining open shots. She works relentlessly on both sides of the ball.”
Boys Swimming
Noah Housley, Herriman (Jr.)
When asked to describe junior Noah Housley, Herriman coach Michael Goldhardt said, “he’s been a great powerhouse to our swim team.”
Two weeks ago at a meet at Wasatch, Housley set a new school record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.29. He also set a new record in the 100 fly.
“He works hard, and will shatter more records as the season ends. He also has been a great inspiration for many of the younger swimmers in the community because of his hard work ethic,” said Goldhardt. “Many of the elementary and middle school athletes love him and look up to him in many ways.”
