The death of skiing pioneer and Utah skiing fixture Stein Eriksen was met with an outpouring of condolences and memories.
Many former gold medalists and world champions shared their thoughts about Eriksen.
Three-time aerial skiing Olympian Emily Cook took to Facebook on Monday morning.
"My thoughts are with Stein's family this morning. I loved hearing his stories of the birth of the sport I was so fortunate to participate in for the majority of my life. A true pioneer and legend. Thank you for all your contributions to our community Stein."
Many organizations chimed in, as well.
FIS Freestyle Skiing's Facebook page said, "… Stein was the originator of aerials, and without him the world of skiing as we know it wouldn't look the way it does now. Rest in peace."
Many others — ranging from many vocations — added their thoughts.
Some remembered a quote from "Seinfeld" where Elaine's boyfriend is wearing a fur coat.
"He was struttin' around the coffee shop like Stein Eriksen," Elaine said.
And finally, the Deer Valley Resort, where he was the director of skiing for 35 years, paid tribute to Eriksen by extinguishing the flame of the Eriksen statue in front of the lodge that bears his name.
