This Christmas marks five years that the Slade family of Gilbert, Arizona, has been creating Christmas video cards. In 2013, the family built a rotating room for their video, but this year, they built an entire tiny house.

“This year we decided as a family to do something a little different, to help someone in need for Christmas,” one of the Slade sons said in this year's video.

The family built the house so someone can have a home for the holidays. Although it is small, the house has a fully functioning kitchen, bathroom and sleeping area. To find someone to give the house to, the Slades have asked that people nominate someone they know who is in need of a home for the holidays.

The entry fee is a $20 donation to Charity: Water, a nonprofit organization that provides clean drinking water to people in need. Submissions should include an essay (500 words or fewer) about the person being nominated to receive the house.

Micah and Whitney Slade have been married for 15 years and are the parents of four children. Their Christmas video card from 2014 has been viewed over 9,000 times.

“We really enjoy just doing this as a family, and at the heart of it all, that’s why we’re doing it,” Slade told the Deseret News in 2013. “It’s just a family tradition, … and kind of the byproduct is to lift people’s spirits, especially during Christmas.”
