SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Tennis Association will recognize Coach Mike’s Tennis Academy @ Liberty Park as its 2014 Organization of the Year at its annual banquet Wednesday night.
“We’re honored to be recognized by the tennis community for this award,” said coach Mike Martines. “Our goal is to provide the public with an outstanding tennis facility and to offer beginning and seasoned players with the opportunity to make tennis a lifetime sport.”
Other 2014 award recipients include Brad Ferreira, David L. Freed Award; Christy Johnson, Linda Vincent Community Service Award; Shilane Mansell, Volunteer of the Year; Rick Draney, Harry James “Will to Win” Award; the Marchant Family, Family of the Year; Chris Anderson and Lynn Woodbury, Captains of the Year; John Bradley at Nephi Recreation, 10 & Under Youth Ambassador Award; Morgan Hall, Hilary Doyle Sportsmanship Award; and Tim Donnelly, United States Tennis Association (USTA) High School No-Cut All Star Team Award.
The Organization of the Year Award is given to a USTA-member organization recognizing its significant contributions to the tennis community through promoting and developing the sport of tennis in Utah. With this award, the UTA recognizes the efforts of Coach Mike’s Tennis Academy @ Liberty Park to grow tennis participation at all levels. Public and private tennis facilities statewide were considered for the annual award, established in 2007.
