Missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently gathered outside the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Alabama during the run of "The Book of Mormon" musical to hand out copies of the Book of Mormon.
"The Book of Mormon" musical ran from Feb. 17-22, and during that time the missionaries gave out 2,400 copies of the Book of Mormon, said President Richard Hanks, president of the Alabama Birmingham Mission.
"If people have a couple hours to watch satire, we hope they'll take a couple hours to read the real thing," President Hanks told al.com. "We said, 'You can get a real Book of Mormon from a real Mormon.' "
