Utah State's men's and women’s track and field teams captured 11 top-five finishes, as well as five individual event titles, Friday at the Mark Faldmo Invitational.
Day one event title winners included sophomores Mia Estes in the women's javelin (44.75m) and Devin Wright in the men’s javelin (61.46m). Junior Maci Bingham won the women’s hammer throw (57.86m), junior Kevin Allen won the men’s hammer throw (56.63m) and junior Kade Jensen won the 3,000m (9:08.37).
Men’s top-five finishers included sophomore Mitchell Pettit placing second in the 3,000m (9:16.21), junior Jacob Barton placing third (9:30.06) and freshman Justin Sheets placing fourth (9:36.09).
Women’s top-five finishers included a sweep of the hammer throw with senior Melanie Heslop placing second behind Bingham (57.63m) and sophomore Shelby Jordan placing third (49.46m). Additionally, freshman Stephanie Crapse placed second in the javelin (40.07m), while senior Amber Thompson placed second in the pole vault 3.50m (11-05.75).
