West Jordan debuted its new fire station with equipment that will be at home in the facility. City Mayor Kim Rolfe use Jaws of Life to cut through handcuffs and a fire hose to open Fire Station 54/Bagley Park Police Substation, 9351 S. Hawley Park Road. The station was built on the site of an old fire station that was demolished last spring.

The Police Department’s motor squad will also be based out of the station.

The public is also invited to tour the new station Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The original facility was built in 1980 when West Jordan had only about 27,000 residents. Today, West Jordan has about 110,000 people and more than 3,000 businesses, including many large industrial businesses in the area that the new station will serve.
