When visiting an LDS temple, most people probably expect to see impossibly green grass and flower beds bursting with blooms, but the L.A. temple is starting a new trend: brown and dry.

According to the L.A. Times, the temple gardeners stopped watering the formerly luscious lawn a few weeks ago in "an effort by church officials to save water."

"We've had a lot of questions about it," a temple security guard told the L.A. Times, "but then they understand once they know it's because of the drought."

He went on to explain that when they are done with the thatching process, they will start watering it again "just so it's not so brown and ugly."
