Still standing in old Nauvoo is the home once occupied by Samuel and Ruth Williams, located on the west side of Partridge Street between Kimball and Munson streets in Nauvoo, Illinois.

Samuel Williams was born in Massachusetts in 1789. He married Ruth Bishop in Westfield, Massachusetts, in 1810. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1839 and soon moved with many of the Saints to Missouri. Fleeing Missouri, he eventually settled in Nauvoo.

Doctrine and Covenants 124 mentions Samuel when he was called to serve in an elders quorum presidency. He made the journey from Nauvoo to the Salt Lake Valley, spending several years in Winter Quarters, Nebraska, on the way.

Written historical records say he was a stonecutter, working on both the Nauvoo and Salt Lake temples. His work on the Salt Lake Temple would have been limited because he lived in Ogden, Weber County, and passed away in 1855, just two years after ground was broken for the temple. Presently, Mormon missionaries live in the Samuel Williams home at Nauvoo.
