Single mother who survived tornado shares her story in new Mormon Channel video

,

The newest Mormon Channel video shares the story of a single mom who found renewed faith in God after a devastating tornado.

Shortly after marrying her second husband and becoming the mother of a blended family, Maylene (whose last name is not given) and her husband adopted Maylene's four nieces. After struggling with the marriage for a few years, her husband left.

Maylene tried to juggle three jobs while raising her children alone, but shortly before the tornado hit her hometown of Moore, Oklahoma, she felt she was at her breaking point. The deadly tornado ravaged the town, destroying Maylene's house and the elementary school where she worked.

After the storm, Maylene was reminded that God would help her family through any trial.

"My whole life, I felt abandoned, like there were pieces missing," Maylene said. "After the storm, God answered my prayers. He picked up the pieces and filled that void. I don’t ever have to feel like I’m going to be alone or abandoned again because he’s going to be there for me every step of the way."
