FARMINGTON — Twelve more golfers were added to the field for this week’s PGA Web.com Utah Championship at a qualifier Monday at Oakridge Country Club, but no Utah golfers were among the lucky dozen.
Patrick Stolpe of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Brandon Hagy of Westlake Village, California, were the low scorers with 7-under-par 65s, while Ted Brown of Richmond, Virginia, and Conrad Shindler of Dallas were a stroke back at 66. Nine players came in at 67 and eight survived a playoff with Colorado’s Zenon Brown being the odd man out.
The eight who qualified at 65 were Brad Adamonis, Alex Kim, Drew Stoltz, Hans Reimers, Mark Anguiano, Tom Whitney, Niall Platt and Paul Imondi.
Among local golfers, Sandy’s Steve Schneiter and amateur Joe Parkinson were the low scorers at 69 while two-time Utah Open champ Clay Ogden came in with a 70.
Former BYU golfer Justin Keiley shot 71, while several Utah golfers, Steele DeWald, Nick Killpack, Jordan Rodgers and Dusty Fielding, came in at 72.
Stolpe had a rather uneventful round with eight birdies and a bogey, while Hagy was all over the place with three eagles, seven birdies, two bogeys, a quadruple-bogey 8 on the 14th hole and just five pars.
The 72-hole Utah Championship has moved this year to Thanksgiving Point in Lehi and will run through Sunday afternoon.
