High school students in New Zealand performed the traditional Maori Haka dance to honor their teacher Friday.

In a video posted July 26, students at Palmerston North Boys' High School can be seen beating their chests and knees as a hearse carrying their teacher, Dawson Tahana Tamatea, pulls up.

The 55-year-old physical education teacher died in his sleep on July 20, according to tvnz.co.nz.

At the time of publication of this article, the video had nearly 600,000 views.
