While filming the latest installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, actor Johnny Depp, still dressed in his Jack Sparrow, stepped off the set to visit a children's hospital.

The surprise visit was planned for Katelyn, one of the children at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, who is battling cancer.

Before the famous pirate made his debut, Katelyn feared the surprise might be a room full of spiders. When Depp showed up, he joked with Katelyn that it was time to enter the room of spiders.

He also took pictures, chatted and bantered with other children in the hospital during his visit.

"If there's other people in it, then why do you call it a 'selfie'?" Depp asked the children in a video documenting his visit.

The video was created for Juiced TV, a show made by and for kids at the hospital.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," the fifth installment in the film franchise, is slated for release in 2017.
