The recent Brigham Young University graduate and world-renowned violinist Lindsey Stirling talks about the importance of education in a video BYU released Saturday.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree in recreational management, and she performed for her college's graduation ceremony.

"(Getting a degree) was something that's important to me," Stirling said in the video. "And if it is important to you, it can happen. Going to college is an amazing opportunity to not only learn and be book-smart but also to kind of stretch your wings and expand yourself as a human and as an artist, whatever it is you're going for."

Stirling rose to fame by posting her hip-hop violin skills on YouTube. While she was in Utah attending BYU, Stirling's videos took off. Her YouTube channel now has more than 1 billion views.
