The BYU Cougars have spent the good part of the last 50 years playing great football, thanks to the performances of some remarkable athletes. There have been all-conference selections on both sides of the ball and on special teams. There have been conference players of the year, All-Americans and national record holders. The Cougars have also had their fair share of national award winners, including the Sammy Baugh Trophy, Davey O'Brien Award, Outland Trophy, Doak Walker Award and the Heisman Trophy. This list ranks the best of the best of those players — the ones who led BYU to national stardom.

Here is my list of the best football players in BYU history

Note: These rankings are based on numerous factors, including national standings, all-conference recognition, school records, awards and impact on the success of the Cougars. It is also important to note that only what each player did at BYU was taken into consideration.
