NEW YORK — Who said it: Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, or Stephen Colbert’s satirical republican character on The Colbert Report?
That’s the question Colbert asked Trump when he had him on the show Tuesday, challenging his guest to see if he could correctly who had said a series of statements.
While Colbert challenged Trump on several issues during their interview, he ended on a lighter note. "For years I played an over the top, you know, conservative character — not as long as you did. I was looking back at some of the things I’ve said over the years and I couldn’t figure out if it was you or me saying these things."
Colbert read a series statements and Trump had to guess who had said them, such as, "Medicare is like a nice pair of cufflinks. Nobody wears cufflinks anymore." The answer was Colbert.
Overall Trump did well, getting most of the questions, right partial credit on one, and only missing the last question, when the answer turned out to in fact be Charles Manson.
