The front page of the Jan. 14 Deseret News states the lottery won't be coming to Utah anytime soon but fails to cover the big wildlife lottery system in wide use. Why is it OK for a lottery for big game, which shuts out normal people in favor of selling choice tags to the highest bidder and those out of state? Wouldn't a process to issue tags on a first-come basis with 80 percent going to legal residents be a fairer system? I know a quadriplegic who waited for 16 years before finally drawing a big-game tag. Is that fair? Others have put in for over 20 years and no draw. Think about it, legislators.
