The University of Utah football program was the beneficiary on Tuesday of a recent decommitment.
Nygel King, a cornerback out of Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas, announced on Twitter that he's chosen to commit to the Utes three weeks after decommitting from the University of Houston.
A three-star prospect at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, King was a longtime Cougars pledge, having declared his intention to stay in his home state last June.
In early January, however, he announced that he'd be looking elsewhere, and Utah pursued him heavily.
After he visited Salt Lake City two weekends ago, King named the Utes his frontrunner. Virginia Tech was the other top challenger for his services.
King becomes the 23rd prospect to commit to Utah for the 2016 class. National Signing Day is Feb. 3.
King did not immediately return a request seeking comment.
