MILLVILLE, Cache County — A 19-year-old Brigham City man was hit and killed after he intentionally ran in front of a moving truck Monday in Cache County, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
About 6:30 a.m., several passersby found the man lying in the road on southbound state Route 165 between Millville and Nibley, said UHP Sgt. Todd Royce. Several people tried to help the man get up, Royce said.
Witnesses reported the man had been dodging traffic and later that he was lying in traffic without a shirt on, the UHP said in a statement.
"When an individual stopped to help the male, he jumped up and had a brief conversation with the good Samaritan," the agency said.
That's when he got up and ran into a northbound traffic lane and was hit and killed by a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck, according to Royce.
"It appears the (man) was in crisis for some reason and purposely ran in front of the truck," the UHP said. "We are investigating mental crisis or if there was any impairment in his system at the time."
