Katie Baker and Lori Fry of GE Healthcare's surgery division clean up the flower beds at Salt Lake County Youth Services in South Salt Lake on Thursday during the company's Community Service Day. GE employees made improvements in several outdoor areas to enhance the space and provide youths utilizing the facility's services with welcoming play areas. The projects included revitalizing the challenge exercise course, sprucing up the playground, planting trees, restriping the parking lot, building a shed, reconditioning the soccer field, creating a shaded rest area and building a fence to provide safety from a nearby railroad line. This is the sixth year of GE Community Service Day in Salt Lake City. Salt Lake County Youth Services' mission is to provide children, youths and families in crisis with immediate safety, shelter and support.
