In his latest blog post, David Archuleta, a Utah-based singer-songwriter, wrote about the musical experiences he had on his mission.
Archuleta served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile from 2012 to 2014. In his Tuesday blog post, he wrote about how he would perform in the homes and yards of people who did not recognize him for his music career.
“For some reason I had some of the most fulfilling performances of my life singing for one or two people at a time, without the applause or notoriety of crowds,” Archuleta wrote.
Archuleta’s rise to fame came after he competed on the 7th season of “American Idol.” Archuleta was the runner-up during that 2008 season.
As a missionary, Archuleta not only performed in people's houses and yards but also as a member of the MTC Choir during general conference and during two Christmas productions on the grounds of the Chile Santiago Temple.
"Sharing my beliefs and the things that filled my soul without expecting to get anything back felt amazing," Archuleta wrote.
In his post, Archuleta talked about his struggle to maintain a life that is meaningful to him both as an individual and as a performer.
