Around the world, holidays are a time for families to reconnect and celebrate, and the case is no different for the celebration of Chinese New Year.
Mormon Newsroom Malaysia featured an article about how local members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints celebrated the Chinese New Year.
Traditions for the Chinese New Year focus on the family. Family members travel in order to bring in the new year together. They celebrate by eating food, playing games and remembering ancestors.
Emily, a resident of Ipoh, Malaysia, told Mormon Newsroom Malaysia that the Chinese New Year is one of the most anticipated events of the year.
“Emily has precious memories of learning to cook beside her grandmother and now loves to cook,” according to the article. “She said that even though her family home is not huge, it will be the center of happy times with as many as 72 people there for dinner.”
